The Muslim economy has always flourished without needing usury. In the past few decades, major world economies suffered crippling disasters, compounded by the extensive network of usury transactions that almost control all economic activity today.

Poor countries, and countries which held economic promise only a few decades ago, have suffered financial collapse on account of the huge debts they owe to western financial institutions, especially the World Bank. Yet, service fees, i.e., the usury, kept increasing no matter the economic conditions in debtor countries.
