Is Allah the Moon God?
The evangelicals say: “This is true is seen from the fact that the pagan Arabs never accused Muhammad of preaching a different Allah than the one they already worshipped.”
Response
In the Quran, Allah says, {And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a Warner (Prophet Muhammad) has come to them from among themselves. And the disbelievers say: “This (Prophet Muhammad) is a sorcerer, a liar. Has he made the âlihah (gods) (all) into One Ilâh (God — Allâh). Verily, this is a curious thing!”} (38:3-5)
Arab pagans had more understanding in the true message of Prophet Muhammad, and knowledge about the Creator of everything being Allah, than modern-day evangelists do.
Arab pagans had no dispute with Prophet Muhammad about Allah being the Creator of all things, including the sun, the moon, and everything else. To the contrary, they submitted to this fact as stated in the Quran, {And verily, if you ask them (the pagans of Quraish, the Prophet’s tribe): “Who created the heavens and the earth?” Surely, they will say: “Allâh (has created them).”} (39:38)
Arab pagans heard Prophet Muhammad, Allah’s blessing and mercy on him, recite to them these ayat (Quranic statements), {He (Allâh) has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All Mighty, the Oft Forgiving.} (39:5)
Prophet Muhammad perfectly, clearly, and repeatedly explained to Arab pagans that the Creator of all things and Allah are One and the same, {Say (O, Muhammad): “O Humankind! Verily, I am sent to you all as the Messenger of Allâh — to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death. So, believe in Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad), the Prophet who can neither read nor write (Muhammad), who believes in Allâh and His Words (this Qur’ân, and all divine books Allâh revealed to His Messengers), and follow him so that you may be guided.”} (7:158)
Arab pagans agreed. They knew that Allah is the Creator of all things, including the sun and the moon.
In addition, Arab pagans did not worship a moon-god which they called Allah. This Christian fantasy about Islam has no bases and absolutely no proof to support it, in addition to, defying the clear ayat of the Quran that describe Allah’s attributes and His being the One and Only Creator.
Let’s imagine that Arab pagans had a moon-god they called, Allah. Then, Prophet Muhammad came to preach Allah as being the Creator of all things including the sun and the moon, thus, making these two images of Allah in total and complete contradiction to each other at the very core and at the very essence.
Let’s suppose, for the sake of argument, that Arab pagans had a moon-god which they called Allah, and then Prophet Muhammad came to confirm that Allah is indeed the moon-god. Why then would Arab pagans wage a bloody, eighteen-year war of attrition against Prophet Muhammad and his companions? Arab pagans would have loved to cooperate with Prophet Muhammad, had he come to confirm that the god he called to, is their very own moon-god!
Arab pagans understood well the essence and the implication of Prophet Muhammad’s message. They believed that Allah created everything, including the sun and the moon. They called the Creator by His true name, Allah, the same name Abraham, Moses, and Jesus used when they referred to and invoked the Creator of everything.
The difference between the religion of Arab pagans and the message of Prophet Muhammad is that the pagans, even though believed that Allah created everything, worshipped idols as intermediaries between them and Allah. They didn’t believe the idols created anything; they said, {“We worship them only that they may bring us closer to Allah”} (31:3).
Arab pagans understood well the implication of Prophet Muhammad’s Message, {Has he made the âlihah (gods) (all) into One Ilâh (God — Allâh). Verily, this is a curious thing!”} (38:5)
Arab pagans didn’t violently dispute with Prophet Muhammad for decades because they called the moon-god Allah and Muhammad did the same. That’s not only absurd, it’s also silly. There would have been no dispute between them if they both worshipped the same moon-god which they both called Allah.
Arab pagans disputed violently and for decades with Prophet Muhammad about the Islamic message of Tau`heed: La Ilaha Illa Allah, that is, none has the right to be worshipped, except Allah. They knew that Tau`heed meant the total and complete destruction of their idol-worship system.
Again, the evangelicals clearly demonstrate that what guides them in their enmity to Islam, is hatred. The Quran is available to the world today in multiple languages. They should read it first before they make claims that even Muslim children know are untrue.
