Muhammad’s ‘Tutelage’?

Is Allah the Moon God?

The evangelicals say: “The fact that they were given such names by their pagan parents (such as the Prophet’s father’s name: Abdullah) proves that Allah was the title for the Moon-god even in Muhammad’s day. Prof. Coon goes on to say, ‘Similarly, under Mohammed’s tutelage, the relatively anonymous Ilah, became Al-Ilah, The God, or Allah, the Supreme Being.’”

Response

Again, these people have not produced evidence that the moon-god was actually called, ‘Allah.’ Yet, they claim that the fact that the Prophet’s father was called Abdullah, which means, the Slave of Allah, proves that Allah was the title for the Moon-god. Where is the connection?

The Quran testifies to the opposite of this silly evangelical logic where Allah said, {And verily, if you ask them (the pagans of Quraish, the Prophet’s tribe): “Who created the heavens and the earth?” Surely, they will say: “Allâh (has created them).”} (39:38)

Also, Allah said, {He (Allâh) has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All Mighty, the Oft Forgiving.} (39:5)

Ayah, that being Quranic sentence, 39:5 states that Allah is the Creator of the sun and the moon. This statement is in the Quran, as is evident. The Quran is the Book of Allah which He revealed to His Messenger, Muhammad, whose father was named Abdullah, that is, the slave of Allah, i.e., the Creator of the sun and the moon. The evangelicals and their Coon lie.

Yet, let’s suppose, for the sake of argument, that during the Prophet Muhammad’s time, the pagans called the moon-idol, ‘Allah.’ The Prophet Muhammad came to reject idol-worship by declaring that there is only One Creator for all that exists. He also refuted the idol-worshippers for calling their idols and worshipped objects names that they derived from the attributes of the One and Only Creator. He also affirmed that the Name of the One and Only Creator is Allah, Creator of the sun and the moon, as the Quran declares. The Quran also described Allah with the attributes of power, glory, and perfection and reiterated the fact that He has created everything.

If the pagans called one of their idols, ‘Allah,’ and there is no evidence they did, then that would be a sign of their injustice, polytheism, and tyranny. Why should Allah change His Name just because the idol-worshippers used His Name for one of their idols?

However, the pagans themselves have duly refuted the evangelical and their Coon about their claim which is mentioned here; that, the pagans of Quraish, the Prophet Muhammad’s own tribe, called the moon, ‘Allah.’

The Quran asserted in the clearest terms the fact that, even to the Quraish pagans, Allah is, ‘Al-Ilah,’ and that they believe that, Allah is the Creator of all things, including the sun and the moon. Arab pagans never believed that Allah is the moon, itself, or that He is the moon-god. The Quran, which Prophet Muhammad recited to the pagans of Quraish, also asserted in the clearest terms that Allah created the sun and the moon. Even if the pagans were under the false impression that Allah is the moon-god, the Quran and Prophet Muhammad came to correct this sheer polytheism and clear disbelief in the Creator of all things.

Therefore, the evangelicals, in addition to their Coon, didn’t only lie to distort facts of history, but they also demonstrated unusual ignorance in the Quran and Islam. Why would these people make such false claims, without first attempting to read the Quran to find any hint of support for their ideas about Islam, Allah, the Quran, and Prophet Muhammad?

In contradiction to the false claims made by the evangelicals and their Coon, the pagans sternly rejected the monotheistic message of Prophet Muhammad because, as they said, {“Has he made the âlihah (gods) (all) into One Ilâh (God — Allâh). Verily, this is a curious thing!”} (38:5)

The pagans rejected the denunciation the Quran made of their worship of idols, including worshipping the ‘daughters of Allah’: Al-Lat, Al-`Uzza, and, Manat. The pagans of Makkah understood well the implication of the message of Tau’heed, the foundation of Allah’s Islamic Monotheism brought to them by Prophet Muhammad, far more than modern-day evangelicals understand these aspects. How can a mind and a heart poisoned by the impossible formula of 1+1+1=1 understand monotheistic creed, when they themselves are drowned in polytheism?

The pagans of Arabia are the same pagans who when asked about {“Who created the heavens and the earth?”}, they said, {“Allâh (has created them)} (39:38). They are the same pagans who heard the Quran, which Allah sent to Prophet Muhammad, declare that, {And He (Allah) it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating} (21:33). They, therefore, knew well that Allah created the moon. They didn’t claim that Allah is the moon! How is it possible that Allah, Who declared in the Quran that He created the sun and the moon, became the moon-god instead of the God of the moon and everything else?

Hatred of Islam has blinded the hearts of modern-day evangelists and poisoned their minds. They make claims that the Quran rejects clearly and firmly. Yet, they ‘stick’ their claims to the Quran, as if no one reads the Quran to dispute what they say.
